Daniel Skib is a freelance horn player and educator based in Los Angeles. Before moving to Los Angeles, Daniel was living and working in Michigan. He has enjoyed performances with the Adrian Symphony Orchestra, Arbor Opera theater, Disneyland All-American College Band, Los Angeles Doctors Symphony Orchestra, and the American Youth Symphony. Daniel has made appearances as a fellow at the Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival and the Atlantic Music Festival.
Also active as a music educator, Daniel spent several years as a private horn teacher, worked as a marching band instructor for several different high schools, and presented band clinics at Pioneer Junior High School in Upland, CA. Daniel is passionate about finding ways to bridge the gap between audience member and performer in the concert hall, and bringing classical music to as many different audiences as possible.
He frequently performs at the Braille Institute, and participates in outreach concerts with the Trojan Brass Ensemble. Daniel is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Horn Performance degree at the University of Southern California, studying with Dr. Kristy Morrell and Mr. Steven Becknell. He received both a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Bachelor of Music in Horn Performance from the University of Michigan where he studied with Adam Unsworth, Bryan Kennedy, and Dr. Colleen Conway.
